As the Senior strategic Purchaser & Sustainability Champion for Combilent, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing our end-to-end supply chain. You will lead initiatives focused on strategic purchasing, such as near-shoring, Out-of-China activities, dual sourcing, supplier management and audits, while overseeing critical activities such as make-or-buy analysis and sustainable sourcing. You will report to the COO.
This role requires flexibility and the ability to balance high-level strategic tasks with hands-on, day-to-day operations. In this dynamic position, you will work closely with planning, production and engineering, to secure long-term supply chain resilience.
Key Responsibilities
This is a newly created position, and there will therefore be good opportunities to shape the role, but you will, among other things, be responsible for:
Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical and environmental challenges.
Develop and execute strategies to near-shore and dual source key supply chain operations, improving agility, reducing lead times and CO2 footprint
Develop the supplier relations beyond the day-to-day collaboration
Partner closely with the planning, production, product development, and finance teams.
Drive strategic sourcing and benchmarking efforts to ensure competitive cost prices
Back-up function for the daily planning operations (purchasing, transport booking etc.) in case of illness (as being a small team we all have double functions)
Conduct regular supplier evaluations
Lead the implementation of sustainable sourcing strategies (goes hand-in-hand with near-shoring and OoC activities)
Monitor and report on sustainability metrics to owner and customer portals
Lead detailed make-or-buy analyses together with Production Manager
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
Most likely, you hold a degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. You have 5+ years of experience in strategic purchasing or procurement, ideally within manufacturing or industries dealing with metals, electronics, or technical ceramics. You have experience with sustainability initiatives, strategic purchasing, and supplier relationship management in Europe and preferably APAC. Proven success in leading make-or-buy decisions and near-shoring initiatives is highly desirable. It goes without saying that you are a strong negotiator and can drive cost reduction, while maintaining good supplier relations. You have strong analytical skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to balance hands-on operational tasks and strategic thinking.
